Last month, I had the privilege of shooting a very small, private ceremony at our home church, Hope Community Church in Andover, KS for my friends Amy and Gene. They each had one witness, plus Pastor Steve, so including me, there were six people total present. They couldn’t have picked a better room, as the main wall was adorned with verses and beautiful phrases, and a large wooden cross stood in the center of the room. The pastor asked them if they wanted to move the cross to the corner, and Amy said no, it was perfect where it was because it represented how Christ was the center. One of her favorite phrases that stood out just beyond the cross was “My Grace is Enough.” I love that.
Amy and Gene met through CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association) and finally started dating after their best friends (their best man and matron of honor) urged them to. Just hearing Amy talk about Gene and seeing the glow in her face warmed my heart. I could tell they were truly happy together and full-on in love. While getting ready, Amy kept exclaiming, “I’m so excited! I can’t believe this is finally happening!” She could hardly keep from squealing during the ceremony too. Probably my favorite part of the day was right after Amy and Gene kissed and everyone exclaimed, “Yay God!”
It really was a simple yet beautiful experience. Amy and Gene, I wish you both the best of luck and thanks for letting me your sixth person that day!
Yay God!!
