This is like the coolest couple ever! Jordan said she tends to not do things quite traditionally, so “in the spirit of non-tradition,” she actually proposed to Mike, while getting ready for work one morning. And he said yes!
Jordan and Mike decided to do a low-key intimate wedding in front of the stone arch at Oak Park, Wichita. Since the couple has an apartment downtown, it worked out great for everyone to get ready there beforehand. The girls got ready in the actual apartment and the guys rented an Air B and B just across the street to get ready in, which was super convenient! Jordan and Mike’s apartment is SO neat. Things I noticed when I arrived: the brick/structural design in there is amazing, they had an artsy contemporary style, they love all things ICT Wichita, and they have two adorable cats who, also in the wedding spirit, wore little bow collars that Jordan’s mom made. Oh and did I mention there was the most perfect natural light in there from amazing giant windows?!
After they were done getting ready, the couple had their first look at Oak Park, with a small ceremony shortly after. I loved watching Jordan and Mike interact. They are so in love and make a perfect couple.
Once the ceremony and photos were complete, there was a couple hour break at which point everyone rejoined at Public, downtown, for their reception. Public was not only the destination of their very first date, but also fit their eclectic artsy vibe spot on. Throughout the day and especially at the reception, I noticed how talented Jordan is. Jordan did all the calligraphy herself. She hand wrote letters to all her bridesmaids and Mike (and even one to me!), she designed all the wood signs, the table numbers, and all other little decor pieces that had writing. She also told me everything in her reception was under $100- what?! She scored all the books from a book store going out of business- which she donated to Public afterward because that’s what they use for receipts. She made the photo booth area herself, a friend made their cake, and she was able to borrow other decor from siblings’ past weddings. That’s the way to go! Everything was beautiful.
I loved working with you both, Jordan and Mike. You guys were the best clients. Enjoy some favorites from the big day!
